National Workplace Wellbeing Day takes place on 31 March – and dental practices are being invited to sign up.

Aimed at encouraging healthier attitudes and bodies in the workplace, the initiative from Food Drink Ireland (FDI) hopes to emphasise greater exercise and nutrition in the workplace.

On the day, employers are being asked to promote simple initiatives such as lunchtime walks or runs, fruit and vegetables on display, health checks, exercise classes or cookery demonstrations during the working day.

Dermot Doherty from the FDI says: ‘Both employers and employees are increasingly shaping the working environment to actively improve the health of their workforce.

‘The majority of people we surveyed say they are more likely to stay long term with an employer that they feel is interested in their health and wellbeing. So on 31 March, let’s put a focus on the health of our employees.

‘It doesn’t have to be anything that requires a lot of planning or even money. All it needs to do is encourage staff to think a little more about their health on the day.’
