Limerick based practice Alexandra Dental Practice struck gold at the 2015 Private Dentistry Awards as it took home the award for Best Treatment of Nervous Patients.

The team were elated to have won and were ‘genuinely shocked’ to be taking home a sought-after prize at the prestigious awards ceremony in London in December last year.

Annette O’Donovan, principal dentist at Alexandra Dental Practice, said: ‘As first timers at an awards ceremony it was completely unexpected when our name was read out. The team were so excited and we were all on a high for the rest of the weekend!

‘It really allowed the team to bond like we never really had before and relish in all our hard work over the years. Hopefully we’ll be back to win more awards next year!’

The Private Dentistry Awards recognise clinical excellence and best practice in the UK and Ireland. Simply being a finalist cements a place among the top practices working today.

‘We want to establish ourselves as a referral practice so this award will create confidence with our peers,’ said Annette. ‘It has also allowed us to recognise that we are an award-winning practice and will drive us to try to achieve awards in other areas, consequently improving the practice and our standards.’

Win for Northern Ireland

Dunmurry Dental Practice also scooped up Best Team in Northern Ireland and Scotland at the 2015 Dentistry Awards last November in Leicester.

It also placed Highly Commended for Best Practice in Northern Ireland and Scotland, and was the only Northern Irish practice shortlisted for Best Patient Care.

Philip McLorinan from the practice spoke to Lisburn Today about the team’s achievements, commenting: ‘This award is special as it shows that we have come out on top when put into a competition with our Scottish neighbours.

‘We are delighted to have our commitment to quality dental care for our patients recognised at a national level.’
