An audience of school children and teachers were hosted at the Killyhevlin Hotel in Northern Ireland on Friday 22 January for the launch of the Humble Helpers Programme.

A new educational and charitable schools initiative, the Humble Helpers Programme aims to teach UK children about important humanitarian and healthcare topics, while also raising funds for the Humble Smile Foundation.

Enda Harte, sales and IT development manager of Humble Brush, ran through the four core modules from the programme: charity, oral health, healthy eating, and the environment.

Donations

Quintess Denta 3 smallEach participating school will be provided with information packs and resources to help expand upon these topics. The second half of the programme, Enda explained, will see pupils using the information they have learned each week to sell Humble Brushes to their friends and families. All profits will be invested back into helping their schools and donated to charitable causes across the world through the Humble Smile Foundation.

James Hamill, dentist and CEO of Fermanagh-based company Quintess Denta, began by introducing the Humble Brush. For every brush sold, one is donated to the Humble Smile Foundation to distribute to the world’s most desperate areas.

Dr Darren Weiss, president of the Humble Smile Foundation (who had flown in from Israel to attend), explained the dire need of supporting oral health charities in the world’s least fortunate countries.

Lend a hand

Celebrity chef Neven Maguire was also on hand to discuss his own involvement in the Humble Helpers Programme. As an ambassador of the project, Neven has supplied a number of recipes that he hopes will inspire children to live healthier lives in the future.

Representatives from local councils and organisations in attendance were all eager to lend their support to the project and become Humble Helpers. Irish TV came along to record the launch of the programme.
