by Guy Hiscott

Promed, a leading dental and medical supplies company, has been officially recognised as one of Ireland’s Best Workplaces 2014.

It was also the only Kerry company to appear on the Best Workplaces list this year.

The prestigious accolade was presented at the Great Place to Work Awards in the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel, Dublin on 26 February.

Promed was also announced as the sixth placed organisation on the Best Small Company Workplace 2014.

The event was attended by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny TD, who congratulated all of this year’s organisations on their commitment to creating great workplaces, saying: ‘The government’s aim is to make Ireland the best small country in the world in which to do business and I’m pleased to say our reputation is growing.

‘The government will continue to implement the Action Plan for Jobs so that more of our people can get back to work and experience the satisfaction and pride that these awards epitomises.’

Colin Denman, managing director of Promed, said: ‘It’s the first year we have entered this competition and to come sixth in Ireland in our category is a fantastic result.’

John Ryan, CEO of Great Place to Work Ireland, added: ‘These organisations are ahead of the rest because they don’t deliver mere platitudes about the importance of their employees to their business; rather, they create a rich culture supported by people practices that ensure higher levels of collaboration, greater input into strategy development and vision shaping.’

Established in 1985, Promed is a leading primary care medical, hospital and dental supplies company, providing equipment, consumables, service and repair and Invisalign to more than 4,000 medical and dental practices in Ireland.
